It is surprising how many people do not know the benefits of clustered servers. With load balanced systems, for example, the network distributes the incoming requests evenly between each server so the system does not become overloaded. Another benefit is the option to add an application called a failover which, in the case of a server malfunction or failure, the single server is disconnected from the rest of the cluster and the server continues to perform optimally. With those kinds of benefits, it is a wonder that anyone who could afford it, especially web based business, would not install this type of system in their business.

When DSL first arrived every man woman and child wanted it. No more making a cup of tea whilst waiting for images to load on websites. Even better, no more leaving your computer on overnight while you download software. Demand was so high that the relatively small supply of companies could charge a fortune and know they would get customers. Thankfully things have changed. Many new companies saw the potential and there was an explosion in DSL Service Providers. Inevitabely all the competition has meant that prices have fallen rapidly. I used to pay $30 per month for a 512k connection and a 2GB download limit. Just a year on I was paying half of that for a faster connection and no download limits at all.
